EVE Audio EXO 27 Review

EVE Audio EXO 27 Pair

EVE Audio’s new EXO Series is available, and we set up a pair in our studio ready to see (and hear) what the hype is all about.

The EXO Series from Berlin, Germany, based EVE Audio caught our attention when it was announced recently with a few interesting new features. This year, 2026, EVE Audio celebrates 15 years as a company and their SC Series of monitors can be found in many professional and home studios. The EXO range consists of the EXO 24, EXO 25, EXO 27 – our review pair, and EXO 28.

The first thing that struck us when unboxing the monitors is how good they look. Compact yet beefy, cute and sleek but with attitude. They’re well designed for appearance and for functionality.

Under The Hood

The EXO 27 is an active 2-way studio monitor with a 6.5” woofer with a coated aluminium (CAL) driver, something new from EVE Audio.

The tweeter is where the magic lies, and we’ll get into this in detail here. It’s a newly designed Precision AirMotion Tweeter which equates to excellent detail and transient response. AMTs use a very lightweight folded diaphragm, so they can respond extremely quickly to changes in the signal. Because the diaphragm doesn’t need to move as far the result is lower distortion at high volumes.

Another benefit of the AMT tweeter is the wide horizontal dispersion (good for stereo imaging) and narrower vertical dispersion (reduces floor/ceiling reflections). The bottom line: AMT tweeter’s main benefits are speed, clarity, and dynamic capability. If you like hearing fine details and a sense of “air” in your music, they can be a big upgrade. In our review we’ll see how the monitors respond to these tests.

Listen To Me

Studio monitors are all about the sound, so we loaded up some of our sessions in Logic and then listened to reference tracks that we know well.

Firstly, especially when writing and producing, it’s noticeable that the newly designed GDC Waveguide does its job exceptionally well. It provides a wide sweet spot, especially with the AMT Tweeters and waveguide. Why is this important during producing? Simply because you tend to move your head more when writing as opposed to mixing and playback. It results in a tight stereo image and we found this impressive when listening to genres from acoustic singer / songwriter, classical, and hip hop.

Next, the driver is responsive meaning that the audio is clear with noticeable transients. Mixing percussive sounds like drums and acoustic guitars feels natural.

Combined, the maximum level is 122 dB spl. Mixing at a low level was very clear and when turned up to 85 dB, which is loud for most mix situations, the driver handled even the dirtiest of low end nicely. Usually with a professional set up monitors you need to find roughly a volume where the monitors come to life – with the EVE Audio EXO 27 they are constantly good sounding from low, medium, and high levels. The way the 6.5” driver handles the low end is unbelievable. The cabinet design and being rear-ported gives a true yet full low end. On the EXO 27 the low end goes down to 41 Hz, and on the larger EXO 28 it’s at 37 Hz.

Connecting The Dots

The EXO Series has the connectivity you need in the studio. An XLR balanced input and an unbalanced RCA as the analogue inputs, and the digital connections via S/PDIF In and Out. These can be used if your interface as S/PDIF connections. Well done to the EVE Audio designers to include this feature. This keeps conversion to a minimum.

Future Features

All of the monitors in the EXO Series have DSP. The OLED screen is at the back and controller by the Smart knob where you can adjust filters, EQ, volume, delays, and more. EVE Audio have included DSP in their monitors for 15 years and they’re one of the best at it. When the monitors power up it automatically defaults to the level control. Scrolling through the settings (Filter, Input, Delay, etc) is usefully defaults back to ‘Level’, a well thought out feature. You can also set the time that the monitors will go into sleep mode so you never have to physically switch them off. They will automatically power up with audio is passed through them again.

Ethernet: this port lets you control the monitor speakers from a network through the EVE app (to be released). Control levels, EQ, and all the others from your computer screen from the sweet spot. This is useful for so many applications, from setting up your stereo pair in a small home studio to a full Dolby Atmos rig. For Atmos setups EVE Audio has carefully considered placement with included mounting points.

Final Thoughts

For a 2-way active studio monitor, this is one of the best we’ve heard. When doing critical listening for mixing and reference listening, the EXO 27 is outstanding. The AMT Tweeter feels like we’re listening to natural detailed highs, the driver punches the low end, and for audio like vocals the mid-range is clear.

They look beautiful, sound clear and punchy with a wonderful stereo image, and with added features like DSP, EVE Audio have designed a monitor that should find a home in every studio.
