Iconic Instruments announces Transport Vintage Tape

Iconic Instruments today announced the release of Transport Vintage Tape, a new analog tape plugin with the flexibility to dial in classic, gluey tape sounds, or over-the-top tape destruction. Transport Vintage Tape also adds several classic, but flexible controls with modern production in mind.

Key Features

Record – sets the amount of tape effect, ranging from subtle to extreme.
High- and Low Drive – lets you add or reduce the amount of high- or low-frequency from the signal going into the effect, changing the shape of the saturation.
HF Bypass – built-in low-pass filter to exclude high frequencies from the effect to shape the signal.
Head Bump – recreates the low frequency bump you get from different tape speeds and tape stocks, but with much greater range and amount than the analog realm.
HF Response – a high frequency shelf, post-effect, that lets you restore or reduce high frequencies to suit your track.
Mix – lets you run the effect in parallel.
Playback – conveniently gives you control over the overall volume of the track, post-effect.

Product Overview

Transport Vintage Tape is an accurate software recreation of vintage tape color and compression in plugin form that adds classic, but flexible controls with modern production in mind. This plugin ranges from subtle to over-the-top and has many extra parameters to give you full control over the result.

The Record level goes from subtle and gluey to searing or crushing, and the separate High- and Low-Drive gives you the power to focus the effect where you want. The High Frequency Bypass also allows you to completely exclude the effect above the cutoff to mimic the warmth of your favorite classic tracks.

The Head Bump feature adds a low frequency bump, characteristic of analog tape that was dependent on tape speed and tape stock. But the Head Bump control in the Transport Vintage Tape lets you choose the exact frequency from 50Hz to 250Hz, and gives you up to 12dB of gain, so you can add the color that suits your track.

The High Frequency Response control is a high frequency shelf, post-effect, that gives you the ability to restore or lessen highs to balance out your tracks. You can set the cutoff from 4kHz to 10kHz and the level can be set from -/+12dB.

There’s a Mix control for parallel processing, which gives you a range of interesting results – you can dial in an over-the-top setting and back it off with the Mix control, which gives you something different than just dialing back the effect.

And finally, the Playback level lets you conveniently set the level of your track to work easily into your mix.
